By the end of this resource, students should: 
understand the meaning of the term universal theme
possess a tabulated display of 3 universal themes with supporting evidence (+ techniques and their effects)
 
Optional: Students complete tables in thematic groups using coloured pens and butcher's paper/A3 paper and share knowledge with the class as a whole. 
 
Extension: Students create a thematic essay based on their three themes. Teacher may guide students on how to convert themes to concepts for a more sophisticated approach.
